Welcome to MJ Photography!

Hi, I'm Melissa! For as long as I can remember I have always loved photography! Ever since I was little I was always carrying around a camera and taking pictures. I knew right away after high school that I wanted to further my study of photography, and I had the best 3 and a half years at the New Hampshire Institute of Art earning my bachelors degree in my favorite subject. There I was able to hone my craft and better my skills, and graduated early in 2017. Since then I’ve been doing more and more photography sessions and growing quickly as a photographer. So keep in mind while my portfolio may not be large YET… I can promise you that by the end of our journey together you will have had a great time, as well as leave with great quality, timeless photos that will allow you to relive those moments forever. Whether it be your wedding day, celebrating your engagement (or a secret shoot to capture the moment he gets down on one knee!) senior portraits, family photos, or even just for fun! There’s always an occasion to take photos! I love getting to know my clients, and my goal for every photo session is for it to be as relaxed and candid as possible. I love capturing all the special moments that happen naturally, in my opinion it creates a more realistic picture that let’s you look back and remember all the emotions you were feeling all over again! In order for us to feel more like friends than strangers, I want you to get to know me as well! I must warn you though I find it difficult to talk about myself, but here goes nothing!

I was born in the big city of Las Vegas, but at a very young age moved to an extremely small town in New Hampshire and have been in love with New England ever since. When I’m not photographing I’m pursuing my other passion which is animals. My full-time job at the moment is working as a daycare attendant at a dog care facility! I get to spend my whole day with adorable pups- it couldn’t be better! When I’m not working I spend my free time exploring with my four-legged sidekick Frannie! I love exploring, hiking, and traveling!

I am a VERY happy person, some say too happy at times (all the exclamation points are just as apparent in person,) but I still take that as a compliment! Don’t be surprised if I tell you every time I get a great shot, or get excited about finding the perfect angle, or the beautiful natural lighting falling on you. I love everything sweet and romantic, so you will also probably hear me say “aww” quite a few times throughout our session too.
